A slasher that squanders its potential for terror by providing a too obvious suspect (hint: the murderous ex-asylum patient with a facial disfigurement who is always stalking in the bushes) before yelling "Surprise!" in the last ten minutes and revealing it to be somebody else, equally banal. Still, one of the 'better' Franco flicks, being reasonably paced and with a sense of fun missing from his more miserable, grislier offerings.
Fun fact: the gore from BLOODY MOON is what the retired matador from Almodovar's 1986 movie masturbates to (along with Bava's BLOOD AND BLACK LACE).
