( ShiryƓ no wana / Toshiharu Ikeda / 1988 )
One more horror film whose narrative relies solely on the characters making the wrong decision at every single juncture, leaving their cliched predicament (sorta trapped in an abandoned site with a serial killer) without the slightest hint of dread. The film's USP - elaborate traps sprung on unsuspecting victims - has been stolen lock, stock and barrel for every single 'hardcore' horror film of the last decade and leaves the film even more anaemic than before.
